A Message from the President

The government “May God support it,” represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, has taken an active interest in organic farming to keep pace with global developments in this field, given its importance and its health, environmental, and economic benefits. One manifestation of this interest was the issuance of Cabinet Decision No. 273, dated 1428/8/21 AH, which included “approval for the establishment of the Saudi Organic Farming Association.” The issuance of the Cabinet Decision approving the establishment of the Saudi Organic Farming Association serves as an umbrella for the private sector interested in this activity—including farmers, manufacturers, marketers, and others—through which contributions are made to the implementation, growth, and development of organic agriculture in the Kingdom , safeguarding and promoting the interests of its members, and coordinating with relevant authorities—primarily the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture—to protect the interests of this vital and important sector and prevent practices that violate the rules and conditions governing organic production, processing, and marketing in the Kingdom. The Association aims to promote the organic farming industry and its products in the Kingdom, as well as all efforts that contribute to the development of this sector. ..The Association seeks to foster trust between producers and consumers in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture by granting the organic products logo to farms and manufacturers that demonstrate their production complies with the rules and conditions of organic production, as confirmed by obtaining a certificate issued by a specialized body licensed by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. …The Association is committed to building bridges of cooperation with all relevant entities in the public and private sectors, both within and outside the Kingdom, to promote organic farming and its products and make them accessible to consumers at the right time and place, in addition to facilitating the work of its members by liaising with these entities to overcome obstacles that may hinder the progress, advancement, and development of organic farming in the Kingdom.
